This is the most iconic aspect about poker. Everyone knows about bluffing, and the tells that can allude other players as to what they are trying to conceal. Whether it is good or bad, there is always a tell, and identifying this with a description of what it means to the play is what makes a professional. Here are some common tells to keep in mind.

- Cliche signs of a lack of interest, such as looking sideways without much attention, is a kind of deception. They want you to think they are uninterested and bored with their hand. This usually means they have strong cards.

- If another player raises, but then proceeds to check, it basically means that his intention was to bluff, but he can’t get away with it. This is also something to be sure you yourself aren’t doing, this is an obvious give away that your hand is weak.

- If another player has just lost a previous bet, and took a beating in the last hand, and proceeds to play, this is a sign of aggressive desperation. Exploit this and take him for more money.
